NEW ZEALAND CHILDREN IMAGINE A FUTURE WITHOUT KIWI

To launch its annual campaign Save Kiwi Month 2014, Kiwis for kiwi asked New Zealand children what a future without kiwi would feel like.

The results are a wake-up call to all New Zealanders who have the opportunity to do something today to reverse the decline of kiwi and ensure our national bird does not disappear.

The PR and social media-led fundraising campaign was launched on Seven Sharp, NZ Herald and via sponsors TradeMe and BNZ’s channels. The strategy and concept was developed by Hustle & Bustle and their Creative Director Hector “Shara” Benitez.  They say never work with children or animals but that didn’t stop Augusto, led by Michelle Walshe, directing 39 children, one weta, two rats, one stick insect, one crayfish, one stoat and one tuatara in one day to produce the charming video with a hard message.  Big Fish Creative designed and produced the digital campaign and website.

About Save Kiwi Month 2014:
Kiwis for kiwi is a charity organisation that protects and conserves kiwi by raising funds for predator control in kiwi habitat, as well as supporting education and advocacy, research and monitoring programmes and BNZ Operation Nest Egg.

In October, Kiwis for kiwi is implementing a month-long appeal, Save Kiwi Month 2014, to raise funds for actioning predator control in kiwi habitats, education and advocacy, and research and monitoring programmes.

Save Kiwi Month 2014 kicks off on October 1 with the aim of raising $100,000 for kiwi; enough to protect 1,000 kiwi and their chicks from predators for an entire year.

As part of Save Kiwi Month, Kiwis for kiwi asked New Zealand children what a future without kiwi would look like to them. The results are a powerful reminder to New Zealanders that we need to protect our national bird.
