International money transfer service OrbitRemit has announced the launch of a new transfer channel allowing expats around the world to move money to the United States cheaply and quickly, in a continuation of their efforts to revolutionise the online remittance space.

Remittance and transfer companies have come under increased government scrutiny in recent years, with pressure from all corners to increase transparency and properly manage clients in an effort to stamp out use of transfer companies to aid international money laundering. These measures, while necessary steps to combat international crime, have seen many companies passing on additional compliance costs to their customers. In some cases this has meant unreasonably high costs for migrant workers trying to send money to their families in other countries.

“We understand that people have a legitimate need to perform remittance transactions at a reasonable price. Our system has been highly successful for clients sending funds to India, the Philippines and elsewhere in the world, and we've now taken that same system and applied it to US transfers. This will save customers time and money, and mean faster access to funds at the receiving end,”  said Tommy Heptinstall, founder of OrbitRemit.

OrbitRemit believes the strength of their offering in entering the US market lies in superior transparency and service for their customers.  They've made a name for themselves by making a point of avoiding the hidden fees and unreasonable exchange rate padding that have become all too common in a market once dominated by banking empires.

Banks have been slow to adapt to the potential opened up by online transfer services – and companies like OrbitRemit, offering fast and simple online transactions, are gaining market share as a result of complacency from the big players.

OrbitRemit's transfers to the United States take 1-3 business days and can cost up to 80% less than the same transaction performed through the traditional banking system.

“The principles behind OrbitRemit are simple,” said Heptinstall. “We think with the technology available today it should be standard practice that anyone can send money to family and friends across the world qucikly, easily, with a transparent online tracking system, without having to wait weeks for their money to go through, and without getting ripped off by high fees. Quick, low-cost remittances should be the standard. That's what we've built our brand on, and that's what we're now bringing to US transfers.”
