AMES IT Academy has been training students to successfully gain Microsoft, CISCO and CompTIA certifications by adopting industry developed curriculum that directly relates to these certifications and current industry needs, delivering the latest curriculum to offer high quality, internationally recognised IT certifications. Situated in the Auckland CBD, AMES IT Academy’s Head Office city campus is a modern and attractive educational institution with friendly and open student lounges and quiet study areas. Below are two of the many graduate success stories, starting with these two with Kate and Jock.

Kate never dreamed she could turn her interest in computers into a full time career. The 25 year old had tried a few different jobs, but she never really enjoyed what she was doing. Until now.  A chance conversation with students completing a work experience module got Kate thinking about study and turning her dream of working in IT into reality. She enrolled at AMES IT Academy, with the hope of finding a job and a new career. After completing three courses over the space of nine months, Kate is now working in IT in a job she loves.
"Dreams do come true," says Kate. "I've managed to turn my hobby into a career. I found the AMES IT Lecturers really helpful and the classes were small. There was a lot to learn and I learnt practical things that helped me get a job in IT. I was surprised at how quickly I was able to get into IT with the AMES qualifications behind me. My plan is to get more experience. I love my job and have the opportunity to move up the ladder. My future is looking brighter, and I'm very proud of what I have achieved. I now feel that I can apply for any job without being nervous about whether I'm qualified," says Kate.

From being unemployed to having his choice of interesting IT jobs, Jock knows the value of having relevant qualifications. "I've always wanted to go overseas contracting and the best way to do it is to be qualified. The AMES qualification helped me learn the technical skills that I needed to reach my goal. They provide the international certification that you need to work in the IT space.

"With its strong relationships with IT businesses, the Lecturers at AMES can help graduates to find a job at the end of the training course", explained Jock. "AMES handed my CV out to a lot of IT companies and helped me get interviews. After being unemployed and then working in dead end jobs, it felt weird to have lots of job offers and having to turn them down because I had already accepted a position. It's a strange feeling, but as soon as I graduated, that's what happened.

"In my current job I am using 90% of the skills I learned at AMES. What they teach you is what you use in the workplace. AMES is a great learning environment and lots of fun, too. I'm now doing something with my life and it feels great. AMES had exactly what I needed. I's been the passport to my dreams."
AMES IT Academy hope that readers will find these stories inspirational to motivate them to study IT with AMES IT Academy to create their own future, career and lifestyle. For further information please go to http://www.ames.ac.nz .
