The Student Job Search team have been very busy during the month of March attending Fresher weeks and ‘O’ weeks around the country to raise awareness about Student Job Search and their range of services. Their aim has been to sign up new students whilst also getting them involved in their latest Facebook Competition ‘SJS Save Me’. SJS Save ME was designed to give students what they need for their studies or work this year, whether it be a new study desk, help with buying text books or some clothes for a job interview.

However they have also had submissions for SJS to assist students in daily dilemmas, such as needing a dehumidifier to battle against a damp Dunedin flat, a lawn mower to save students from their jungle-like backyard, and a bike with a big basket to make food shopping more of a breeze. So far they have had upwards of 1400 entries and they are aiming to assist students from all around the country.

Marketing Specialist Jessica Bing says “’SJS Save Me’ stemmed from the marketing team really wanting to help students in areas where they might not always get offered help. Instead of thinking of an ‘O’week prize to appeal to students all around the country, we wanted to personalize it a bit more. It also allowed us to have a greater understanding of those who use us – we want to understand and relate to our students as much as possible!”

Student Job Search is 100% free for all New Zealand tertiary students who attend a Student Job Search member institute. They have a whole range of fantastic jobs from casual, permanent part time, and even graduate roles. As a first year student starting tertiary studies this year, Student Job Search is a perfect option for finding a job while you study, as employers understand that not every student will have experience and relevant skills. Instead, most employers are looking for a can-do attitude and willingness to learn on the job. It’s the perfect time of year to lock in a job that will not only assist with any financial pressure while studying, but also help you in the long run as you gain experience in the work place.

If anyone knows of a student who may be looking for work, they should get them to visit the website at http://www.sjs.co.nz  to check out the jobs available to them in their region. SJS have a range of ‘one off’, casual, part time and full time jobs that are flexible to suit every student’s needs based on their study schedule.
