For the past four years Momento City manager Tumai Hope has been bringing life, energy and vibrant conversation to the popular Hamilton-based café.
Serving up more than just great coffee, Tumai has had a strong hand in helping create the fantastic atmosphere which Momento City is renowned for. ‘You need more than just coffee skills as personality and connecting with people are also vitally important for a great café and that’s what we have developed here at Momento City,” says Tumai.
Building relationships stronger than a triple espresso, with customers is what Tumai believes keeps people coming back to the buzzing café.
“Most of the customers here are my friends and family, and if they are not my friends they soon become my friends,” Tumai commented.
Momento City is the first stop for many caffeine lovers who need a kick start to their day.
“We are the car key to their day, we start their engines,” comments Tumai.
Tumai says it’s the people that keep the job interesting “I love interacting with people and knowing about them and their journey in their life,” says Tumai.
“We are located on a corner which is just a perfect spot for people to come and go,” adds Tumai.
Tumai also highlighted his support staff as part of the reason why Momento City has become so successful. “We have a diverse range of backgrounds but we connect on that same hospitality level,” adds Tumai.
From international celebrities to local stars, Momento City has a diverse range of customers, but it’s because the staff treat everyone equally the people keep coming back, says Tumai.
