Dunedin Police are seeking an armed and dangerous male Maori who it is believed will be able to assist them with their enquiries into the death of a 25 year old female.
Officer in charge of the investigation Det Insp Ross Pinkham says that they are seeking
Shiloh RICKARDS also known as Matthew TE ANINI,
He is a male Maori, aged 46 years, last seen wearing a brown beanie, brown coat over a bare chest, blue jeans, black lace-up boots, and was last seen carrying a yellow handled butcher's knife.
RICKARDS has tattoos on his forehead, lettering on his neck and a star on his right cheek. He also has a number of tattoos on his arms.
It is believed the 25 year old Dunedin woman died as a result of stab wounds. She
was found at 2am this morning at a South Dunedin address.
Armed police have been searching addresses in the South Dunedin area for RICKARDS.
Mr Pinkham says that RICKARDS is armed and dangerous and should not be approached.
It is requested that should there be any sightings of him; the Police should be contacted on 111 immediately.
He was last seen in the Edwin/Surrey/ Forbury Street area of Caversham South Dunedin, at approximately 4am - 2 hours after the altercation.
Police are preparing for other enquiries and a thorough scene examination. A Forensic scientist from Christchurch will be arriving in Dunedin in the early afternoon to assist police detectives.
