For any vehicle, the performance stats are impressive. Zero to almost 100kph in fractionally less than a second, but without the scream of a furiously revving engine and the pungent smoke and fumes of fossil blended fuel. The fastest top-speed for any electric vehicle, of any type. It’s Killacycle, 500 plus horsepower that is available the moment you advance the rheostat, sorry, touch the accelerator.
For this new breed of renewable resource energy harnessing transport the economics line-up as well. A run on the drag strip, including burn-outs and getting to and fro, comes to less than 14cents in energy-cost.
“We want to show that green technology doesn’t have the mean compromise,” says Philip Court, Killacycle NZ Tour Director, and a director of Greenstage, the green-technology company that has brought Killacycle to New Zealand.
Killacycle is one of a new breed of new green technology high performance vehicles. A purpose built drag-bike to show the sheer power and potential of the burgeoning industry. You won’t see it cruising the streets or motorways of New Zealand, but you can see it at various locations throughout the North Island while it is here on a whirlwind tour.
Two public outing’s for Killacycle that will attract plenty of attention will be at the Meremere Drags on Sunday 31st January as part of the 4 and Rotary National Show and Shine, and again at the NZDRA National Series in Nelson on Waitangi Day, Saturday 6th February.
For obvious safety reasons, a search of You Tube will show why you can’t have an electric drag-bike loose on public streets, several appearances will be static, with plenty of opportunity for talk and questions.
