Crash on Northwestern motorway

The driver of the vehicle that travelled the wrong way along the North Western Motorway on the evening of the 24th of July, and which subsequently crashed into a number of oncoming vehicles, died in Auckland Hospital last night.

He was Ewen Donaldson, aged 86, of Tuakau.

The Police Serious Crash Unit is continuing to investigate the crash, and determine why his vehicle came to be driving the wrong way on the motorway.
