Low fares leader Jetstar will further expand its high value trans Tasman operations introducing new direct A320 services to Melbourne and Cairns from its fledging flying hub in Auckland.
Jetstar’s commitment to offering Kiwi travelers hassle-free, low fares travel to more exciting international destinations will support a future daily Auckland-Melbourne service (commencing 13 December 2010).
With the successful continuation of the Qantas Group’s two flying brand strategy for New Zealand, Jetstar will also operate a new international route for the Group with a future 3 times weekly Auckland-Cairns service to commence from 12 April 2011.
Jetstar today launched these trans Tasman routes with one-way sale fares from Auckland to Melbourne from $99# and Cairns from $129# (JetSaver Light) at Jetstar.com. (#Terms and Conditions apply).
Jetstar will further consolidate its top two position in the domestic NZ market introducing more Auckland-Wellington frequencies, rising to 24 times weekly from 13 December 2010 and its total NZ domestic operations grow to a new high of 84 weekly return flights for the airline by year’s end.
Jetstar Chief Executive Officer Bruce Buchanan, who made the announcement at the Australia Pacific Aviation Outlook Summit 2010, said the airline was committed to offering the lowest international fares on these routes backed by its Jetstar Price Beat Guarantee*.
“Jetstar’s strong and sustained growth on the competitive trans Tasman route is part of the Qantas Group’s successful embedding of its two flying brands in this important market,” Mr Buchanan said.
“Jetstar’s partnership in growth with tourism and major airports such as Auckland, Melbourne and in Cairns bridging the Tasman is also enabling this latest international flight expansion.
“We expect both of these new trans Tasman connections to be popular with leisure travelers – whether seeking out major events, nightlife and culture of Melbourne, or the World Heritage nature and the outdoors from the gateway to tropical Australia in Cairns.”
In 2011 Jetstar’s trans Tasman network will grow to ten routes with the inclusion of new Cairns and additional Melbourne flying supported by a 7th A320 to be based in New Zealand from year’s end.
Affordable holiday packages to Cairns and Melbourne are available through Jetstar Holidays at Jetstar.com. Every day one-way JetSaver Light fares start one way from $169 to Melbourne and $229 to Cairns.
