Dawn Raid

 Dawn Raid officially started in 1999 which is the year we recorded our first album. However Brotha D & YDNA meet in 1996 and had began working on the idea of our own label from 1997. The initial idea was to record undiscovered artists from our home town of South Auckland, and to expose these artists to the public thus building them into local and International stars. Dawn Raid felt at the time there was no one (major labels) catering to the discovering and nurturing of these talented artists and we saw a niche in the market that we could develop. Our first album was a compilation titled Southside Story it was released in April 2000 and featured at the time undiscovered artists like, Ill Semantics, 4 Corners, Native Sons, KAOS, Adeaze, Live Live & Brotha D. Since the first release in 2000, Dawn Raid have gone on to release 18 full length albums, and helped build platinum and gold stars out of artists, Savage, Mareko, Adeaze & Aaradhna. Dawn Raid is the only label in the history of NZ music to achieve 10 consecutive top 10 singles and has over 17 Gold & Platinum plaques representing 250,000 units sold worldwide.
