In today’s current economic climate and with fuel prices constantly on the rise, everyone is trying to make the most out of their vehicle’s fuel economy.
Enter Superchips: a vehicle engine upgrade company who promise to give you more bang for your buck by increasing both the performance and fuel economy of your vehicle.
Superchips, established in the UK in 1977 and Australia and New Zealand in 2001, are the pioneer of ECU (engine control unit) re-mapping, which optimises the performance of your car.
Superchips offer upgrades for car, truck and other commercial engine management computers, which are designed to give better throttle response and pick up, increase fuel economy and provide better towing ability. Diesel engines have the biggest increases, with up to 40% more power and fuel savings of up to 15%.
Superchips offer their services to mainly European vehicles; however, they have branched out into Korean and some Japanese vehicles. Peter James, head of Superchips New Zealand & Australia, said their services are available for anyone who enjoys driving, needs more torque or just want to increase their fuel savings.
Peter says their biggest point of difference from their competition is their genuine care for their customers and the fact that Superchips has over 35 years’ experience in the business.
“We look after our customers and always try to give a good, honest upgrade for the price,” Peter says. “Sixty per cent of our work is referral or recommendation and many clients come back when they get new vehicles because they know we will look after them”.
With 19 years’ experience doing Superchips upgrades, Peter says all of his staff are fully trained. Superchip files are tested in-house by Dave Tinsley, a qualified diesel mechanic with 20 years’ experience and the head of R&D at Superchips, UK, before they are released.
Superchips have been the official VW/Audi Rally Team Programmers in the UK for 10 years, as well as MINI Cooper Race Team and Porsche Race Cup scrutineers.
