The following can be attributed to Dr Mark Smith, the spokesman for a group of concerned CGHS parents.

“We are once again disappointed by the lack of communication from the CGHS Board of Trustees.

We were assured at the CGHS Board meeting in November that parents are considered by the Board to be key stakeholders. However, on Saturday the parent community learned through the media that Prue Taylor is to return to school the day after term ends, which is two days after the end-of-year prize giving.

Many parents had hoped communication and engagement would improve with a new Chair of the Board. Unfortunately, that does not seem to be the case and that is disappointing.

Our group is growing in number each day as more parents express their concern about the Board's conduct.

Our focus is now on prize giving on Monday night. For the sake of our daughters this important event will be given the respect it deserves, even though many families are still very angry about the Board’s performance and behaviour.

We look forward to welcoming Mrs Taylor back on Wednesday and expect the Board of Trustees to work in good faith with all key stakeholders to ensure a stable and constructive school environment.

The education of our daughters is of the utmost importance, as is the ongoing stability and good reputation of CGHS. Anything that may affect that negatively of course remains a concern to us.”

Please note, Dr Smith isn’t available for interview and there won’t be anything further said at this stage.

The number of families for whom Mr Smith speaks currently numbers ninety four.
