AUCKLAND

DEVELOPING NEWS: Counties Manukau police are investigating the death of a two-month-old boy who died at a home in Manurewa yesterday afternoon.

 

Detective Inspector Shawn Ruatene told 3 News police were alerted at about 4pm. "We received a call from an address in Manurewa advising us of an incident.

The reports reached infonews.co.nz at around 6pm yesterday but we can confirm that police say the infant's family are devastated by the death.

"On arrival, we have located a two-month old child who was deceased.

"We've arrived to find a family here, and they are very distraught and we're just going to continue with enquiries.''

A crime scene has been set up around the property where the baby died, 3 News reported.

The fire service have also been called in and Victim Support are speaking with the family.

Mr Ruatene said the family were cooperating with police.

Police are making no further comments about the death at this stage.
