HAMILTON

A small landslip has occurred on private and public land neighbouring the Waikato River, causing several cubic metres of soil to cover the Hamilton City Council-owned riverbank pathway.

The landslip has occurred approximately 400 metres south of the Fairfield Bridge, on the western or city side, below a Victoria Street property.

Council staff are assessing the situation and will clear the path as soon as practicable.  Members of the public are advised to avoid this section of the pathway meantime, leaving the path at Fairfield Bridge and rejoining it at Boundary Road Bridge.

Council apologises for any inconvenience while the path is closed.
