Most wanted caught by police

BREAKING NEWS: The long arm of the law has caught another of Taranaki's most wanted criminals.

Tamati Ruka Thomas, 31, was arrested in New Plymouth at 1.30am on Sunday when he was a passenger in a car police pulled over.

Thomas was wanted for an alleged serious attack on an inmate in New Plymouth Prison on November 12.

While Thomas was an inmate at the prison he's alleged to have broken the jaw of another prisoner but was released, the next day, before police could deal with him.

Thomas is due to appear in the New Plymouth District Court today charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, assaulting police and breaching his release conditions.
