Dimension data to deliver kathmandu cloud services
Dimension Data, the global ICT solutions and services provider, has signed a contract to deploy an advanced cloud service infrastructure for leading adventure clothing and equipment supplier, Kathmandu, as the brand looks to expand its presence beyond New Zealand, Australia and the United Kingdom.
Kathmandu has selected Dimension Data’s Public Compute-as-a-Service offering to provide on-demand, self-service, pay-for-use access and control of virtual servers, storage and networking.
Rob Naeyaert, Kathmandu’s Account Manager at Dimension Data New Zealand, says it was Dimension Data’s global footprint, maturity and its secure and reliable cloud approach that ultimately won the organisation the contract.
“It’s great to be able to take the next step forward in our current relationship with Kathmandu to support the organisation with cloud computing services, and our global reach means Dimension Data is well positioned to support Kathmandu in this endeavour,” Naeyaert said.
Grant Taylor, Chief Information Officer at Kathmandu, says the organisation is excited to be working with Dimension Data as it looks to increase its global presence. With a new customer relationship management project in the pipeline, saving time and ensuring flexibility is crucial to Kathmandu’s productivity.
“Our vision for 2013 and beyond is to make use of Dimension Data’s advanced cloud services. This means we will have the ability to start projects immediately and scale easily to meet demand,” he says.
Leigh Jackson, Technology Manager at Dimension Data New Zealand, adds, “Kathmandu is now able to configure its own networks, servers or storage on any of our Managed Cloud Platforms (MCPs) around the world.”
The engagement coincides with the launch of the latest Dimension Data Managed Cloud Platform™ (MCP) in Hong Kong – a capability that will be available immediately to Kathmandu. The Hong Kong platform bolsters Dimension Data’s global cloud presence and is one of six MCPs across the world that provide organisations low latency access to secure, enterprise-class public, private and hosted cloud services within the Asia Pacific region. Other MCPs are in the US, The Netherlands, Australia and South Africa, meaning Dimension Data’s clients have access to local and international enterprise-class cloud services that are high performance, easy-to-use and flexible.
