High school cancelled due to no water
EXCLUSIVE @ INFONEWS.CO.NZ: Spotswood College in New Plymouth was cancelled early this morning because there was limited water resources.
A major pipe had burst overnight at the school leaving no water and causing it to close for the day.
Principal Mark Bowden told INFONEWS.CO.NZ they thought the pipe was the one that carried water to the fire hydrants but were unable to isolate it from the main water supply.
Mr Bowden said a new pipe was being installed and repairs were expected to be complete by this afternoon.
''So all as normal on Monday,'' he said.
A text was sent to all parents at around 9.30am saying "School has been cancelled due to a water issue. Please contact the school urgently" a parent of a student at the school told infonews.co.nz
