Over 100 people witnessed Tree Adventures tragedy

AUCKLAND

BREAKING NEWS: The man involved in the Tree Adventures tragedy has been named

UPDATED: 57 year old Clifford Brabet is dead following a horror tragedy at Tree Adventures in Auckland where a man fell 14m to his death yesterday evening.

The man died at the scene, despite the efforts of a doctor and paramedic who were also on a course at Treetops Adventures, police told infonews.co.nz

“His wife was there and she was freaking out,” a witness told 3News.

Meanwhile infonews.co.nz spoke with witness's and they told us "It was a tragedy at Tree Adventures" 

"His family watched as he fell from the trees plunging onto solid ground" the witness added "It was just horrible"

Mr Brabet was an IT professional who had worked as a computer administrator for companies such as Loreal, Ezibuy and Camera House.

Another witness told infonews.co.nz "No words can ever describe what had occured at Tree Adventures"

The park features 110 high-wire activities and flying foxes.

Tree Adventures has not been available for comment.

Police and the Department of Labour are investigating the man’s death.

Victim Support were supporting the man's family and workmates, police said.

STATEMENT RELEASED

In a statement released yesterday Tree Adventures called the incident an ‘absolute tragedy.'


“Safety is always a number one priority for Tree Adventures and yesterday was no exception. We insist on lengthy and detailed safety briefing prior to anyone using the course, as well as ongoing supervision from Tree Adventures staff throughout participants’ use of the courses.”

 

The park is a very popular spot for adults and children but also tourits, the forest adventure park has over 110 high-wire activities and flying foxes.

The park has been closed until further notice.

'NEVER AGAIN' SAYS TARANAKI RESIDENTS

infonews.co.nz spoke to Taranaki residents that said they would never go on Tree Adventures again untill they are satisfied it is safe.

"I had taken my kids to Tree Adventures in 2010 and they had a great time, we were going to make another visit at the end of the year as a treat but I don't know if that will go ahead anymore" she told infonews.co.nz

Another resident Turkis,36 said "I feel terrible for the family and friends involved"
