Man injured after fire explosion

A Taranaki man is injured after a bubecue exploded in the mans face. 

The man never attended hospital but said it could have been much worse.

"[It] exploded in my face as I was turning it on, I am OK but my hair is very burnt. I was very lucky" he told infonews.co.nz.

Family members rushed to his aid and gave him urgent medical attention.

"I normally get our butler to do it, but he wasn't around" he added.

He is in stable condition in his families private hospital.
