EXCLUSIVE | OPINION: infonews.co.nz Taranaki News Now sent a team of reporters on a Lower North Island road trip which started in New Plymouth and took them to Wellington then up near Greytown but while they were on the road trip, it came to a complete stop when a motorcyclist drove off a cliff in a road accident.

The accident occured on the Rimutaka Hills at around midday when a motorcyclist was swerving in and out of the hilly road.

Seconds before the accident one of our reporters told infonews.co.nz that he thought the motorcyclist would crash, and around a few corners there was the motorcyclist fighting for his life on the side of the road.

Our reporters were shocked but ran out from the vehicle to help the young man, our reporters called 111 and three polices cars, two ambulances and two fire trucks were fast to the scene.

One of our reporters became the traffic support person as hundreds of cars were being delayed on the heavy use of traffic road.

We never published this on infonews.co.nz because at the time it was a life threatning situation and we had no time to let our producers in Taranaki know.

The man was taken to Wellington Hospital and it is unknown if he is still there.

Once we realised the man was getting the support he needed we began our road trip, again...

The road trip had taken us to the beautiful Greytown where we enjoyed a elegant lunch at a bar/resturant/hotel which was 'perfect' said one reporter.

"Greytown is such an amazing place, clam, warm and the public are nice and excited"

We then left Greytown and came to Wellington city, where it was full of excitement.

However by this time the sun was going down and the moon was up, we stopped at the hotel "Home tommorow!" said Michael.

Saturday started great, it was warm and breakfast was great.

We got on the road to Taranaki and the traffic was severe, however we did have ZM radio on so it made it much more relaxing.

Once we hit Wanganui we stopped for lunch and a stop at a memorial tower but we were disgusted by the smell, when we stopped at the tower one reporter said "oh my god, this place smells like shit!".

It was abit loud for the locals and you could hear them laughing away with a great sense of humour.

The tower was cool and was such a great look our for the city, although the smell wasn't so pleasant.

We then stopped of at Burger King for lunch and then kept going on our way to New Plymouth, although our reporters noticed once we left Wanganui ZM's frequency cut out so we tried connecting to Manawatu's frequency which we were getting loud and clear.

Howeever once we got to Taranaki we were amazed at how far the frequency took us, once we got into Stratford we changed over to Taranaki's ZM, the sun was great, the traffic was moving...

We were looking forward to getting into New Plymouth after quite a long couple of days.

We reached New Plymouth and we were delighted to see it was actually sunny and that came to the end of our kiwi easter road trip.

Happy Easter from the team at infonews.co.nz

Have a good one!
