The majority of us don’t give eggs a lot of thought, apart from deciding how we’d like them for breakfast. However; if you were to ask Stefan Craddock, he’d probably tell you he spends most of his day thinking about eggs – it’s how he makes a living after all.

Stefan is the General Manager of Craddock Farms, a farming production business that produces and supplies fresh, quality eggs to organisations throughout the Auckland and Waikato region.

One of the organisations Craddock Farms supply to is Bidvest Fresh Hamilton, a wholesale food provider to the foodservice, hospitality and leisure markets in the Waikato.

Craddock Farms has been supplying Bidvest Fresh Hamilton for over two years and Stefan says it’s a great working relationship.

“Our relationship with Bidvest Fresh Hamilton works well because they are well known for their quality products and service, which fits in well with our philosophy to always produce fresh, quality products.”

“Gus and his team at Bidvest Fresh Hamilton are very professional to deal with at all times and our relationship has gone from strength to strength to the point where we now supply exclusively to them,” Stefan said.

Craddock Farms specifically supplies its showcase six-tray egg boxes to Bidvest Fresh Hamilton.

“The fact that Bidvest is delivering these boxes multiple times a day is great for us in being able to deliver to the customer the freshest possible produce,” Stefan said.

Craddock Farms, a Pukekohe based company, has been around for over 50 years; having being established in 1956 by Stefan’s father, Neil Craddock. Stefan and his brother now manage the business since Neil’s retirement in 2006.

Stefan says that their business has been solidly growing over the past five years within the industry and they now produce one million eggs a week. It is not without its challenges though; regulatory changes that require substantial reinvestment in the business means their farming operation continuously changes.

Despite these challenges and an extremely busy working week, Stefan says Craddock Farms makes it worthwhile.

“The rewarding moments are seeing the business grow significantly over time, and of course receiving positive feedback about our product from customers”
