Rangi Ruru’s winning dressage team took out the Canterbury Interschool’s competition held at McLeans Island on 3 April.

The team including Belinda Field-Dodgson from West Melton, Anna Robertson from ChCh, Rebecca Reith from Ashburton (Capt) and Annabel Prendergast also from West Melton, competed against 24 teams from across Canterbury and Marlborough.

The girls were delighted by their win, which is very satisfying after all the hard work which goes into training hard to develop a pleasing partnership between rider and horse. The team members come from all year levels from Nine to Thirteen, and were determined to win the competition again this year.

Rangi Ruru teacher in charge of Equestrian, Pippa Young says after an A Grade win in Sefton late last year at the International SUPA (Schools and Universities Polo Association) Competition, this is another thrill.

“The skill and dedication of the girls is outstanding,” she says. “Rangi Ruru maintains its position as a leading equestrian contender and is often “the one to beat” in equestrian competitions, which is very satisfying after the huge amount of work on the part of so many.”

As well as becoming overall Team champions, Belinda Field-Dodgson won the individual Dressage Salver for Best Combined Score at Level 2 and Annabel Prendergast was awarded the Langdale Trophy for Best Combined Score at Level 1.
