Leading appliance solutions company Rinnai has today been announced as Gold Partner Sponsor for the Resene Architecture & Design Film Festival 2013 – a festival which showcases the best in innovation and design through film.

The Resene Architecture & Design Film Festival 2013 represents a collaboration between Design Onscreen – The Initiative for Architecture and Design on Film – and Rialto Cinemas. A non-profit foundation dedicated to producing, promoting and preserving high-end films on architecture and design, Design Onscreen selects and sources all films for the festival, which is set to screen in Auckland, Wellington and Dunedin.

Now into its second year, the annual Resene Architecture & Design Film Festival 2013 celebrates excellence, creativity and innovation in architecture and design, with films for the festival chosen for their potential to capture the imagination of film goers, stimulating their creativity and enhancing their understanding of what constitutes great architectural design.

Rialto Cinemas Spokesperson, Lily Richards, says the Resene Architecture & Design Film Festival 2013 holds broad appeal and inspiration in its content and will appeal to audiences who have a love of design, are interested in creativity and enjoy great films.

“Last year was the inaugural Resene Architecture & Design Film Festival and its focus was strongly architectural. In its second year running, Design Onscreen has selected a more lateral body of films that cover everything from the creative process as expressed by chefs, fashion designers and musicians, right through to environmental ways of being,” she says.

According to Richards, standout films at this year’s festival include From Nothing, Something: A Documentary On The Creative Process – a film which profiles creative thinkers across a variety of disciplines, including architecture and design, to find the common techniques, habits and neuroses that lead to breakthrough ideas.

Also selected for the festival, Diller Scofidio + Renfro: Reimagining Lincoln Center and the High Line documents the extraordinary vision behind these two renovations – from patches of wild flowers to sunken road observation points – the entire venture is set to captivate festival goers.

Rinnai national marketing manager, Kathryn Geck, says Rinnai is thrilled to be Gold Sponsor for the Resene Architecture & Design Film Festival 2013.

“As a brand led by strong design, we felt that an event such as the Resene Architecture & Design Film Festival, which showcases amazing global design and creative innovation, was an ideal match for our company and the philosophies we stand behind and aspire to,” says Geck.

The Resene Architecture & Design Film Festival will take place at Rialto Cinemas (Auckland and Dunedin) and The Embassy (Wellington) on the following dates:

    Auckland: 9-22 May
    Wellington: 25 May-5 June
    Dunedin: 6-9 June
