Success has come hand in hand during the 2012/13 season for The Oaks Stud and Hawtin Racing Stables.

Both have had memorable seasons and along the way they have jointly had cause to celebrate.

Promising two-year-old Devour, who will contest the Listed Foal Stakes at Ellerslie later this month, and Summer Rose are among winning horses raced by The Oaks Stud from the Hawtins’ stable this season.

“I am pleased to say we have a great association with Keith and Brendon Hawtin,” says Rick Williams, managing director of Cambridge-based The Oaks Stud.

“They are both horsemen of the highest quality and we have no problems in assigning our horses to their stable,” Williams said.

“They have a tremendous strike rate with their horses and we know that if they line them up they will be in with a real show,” Williams said. “They are renowned for hard work deserve the good results that come their way.”

“They have generally had a couple of horses from The Oaks Stud since they began their training combination,” Williams said.

The Oaks Stud’s star racetrack performers this season have also included Zurella and Artistic along with Group 1 winning 2yo Recite while its resident sire, Darci Brahma, has had an outstanding year with his progeny.

“This has been one of the best seasons I can recall since The Oaks Stud began operations and it is good reward for its owner, Dick Karreman, who puts so much into the thoroughbred industry,” said Williams.

The Hawtins have trained  winners this season with one of the stable stars undoubtedly being Group 2 Rich Hill Mile winner Miss Pelear.

Not only was Miss Pelear the most important race winner this season but she also provided the stable with its first success of the season, back in September.
