Phyllis Huitema wants to restore public confidence in the Waikato District Health Board

Phyllis Huitema says it’s time for a change around the board table on the Waikato District Health Board. She says it’s time for a positive enthusiastic change.

“I want our hospital to be a place where patients are safe and cared for by a dedicated well-trained, supported and valued workforce,” says Phyllis Huitema who announced her candidacy for the Waikato DHB at a gathering of supporters in Hamilton.

Phyllis has an extensive knowledge of the issues around equable access to health care from an isolated geographical perspective from having farmed on the banks of the Whanaganui River in the Taumarunui area and logging in the South Waikato.

“Couple this with my years of city living and puts me in good stead to understand the complexities of access to health care which is required on the Waikato District Health Board,” says Phyllis Huitema.

“I want to ensure the public has faith that the Waikato DHB will deliver first class health care.”

Over the past fifteen years Phyllis has been appointed by the Medical Council of New Zealand to many committees’s that have worked to ensure the safe delivery of medicine. More recently she has been working with the Dental Council.

Phyllis is a member of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and has past experience with Health Ethic Committees and is a  Trustee of the Dr Mercia Barnes Trust and more recently she has been appointed  a Director of THINK!, the Head Injury Network for Kiwis.

“My vast experience has equipped me with the knowledge required to serve you as your representative on the Waikato DHB,” says Phyllis Huitema.
