Homes without power as Taranaki takes a battering

It is scary when the powers out, especially when you're home alone and thats what Taranaki residents are facing tonight as the region takes a battering. 

Over 5000 homes are without power and the majority of the Spotswood suburb in New Plymouth is out of power, the power outage began just seconds before lights began flickering all over the city.

Police are saying that if you have to drive take extreme caution, and if you dont have to, dont. 

POWER OUTAGES FELT FAR OVER TARANAKI

Power outages have been reported and Powerco are currently working to restore power by 4.30am tommorow to the following suburbs and towns:

• - Inglewood, North Taranaki
• - Stratford, South Taranaki
• - Moturoa, New Plymouth
• - Spotswood, New Plymouth
