Tennis Auckland is pleased to announce that tickets go on sale TODAY for the Heineken Open and ASB Classic, as part of the inaugural NZ Festival of Tennis taking place from December 28, 2013 – January 11, 2014.

Tennis fans will be excited to see the move from all-day passes to day and night sessions. Tickets will be sold individually for the two sessions, meaning guests can celebrate the spectacle and excitement of the tournaments when it suits them – whether it’s a day off work, or a night out with friends. Furthermore, the introduction of the Ground Pass ($15) will appeal to those who are after a day out at the Heineken Baseline live site, catching all the action on a giant screen, complete with summer drinks and delicious food offerings.

With a plethora of top players already under its belt, Tennis Auckland announces today that Puerto Rican player Mónica Puig will play at this season’s ASB Classic – joining Ana Ivanovic and Laura Robson, who were announced earlier this month.

A rising star in the women’s game, Puig has made huge headway in 2013 after defeating world number 11 Nadia Petrova in three sets at this year’s French Open, and knocked out world number 5 and 5th seed, Sara Errani at Wimbledon.

“We are really happy to have secured another player for the women’s tournament – as well as top seed players, we pride ourselves on hosting future stars at the tournaments and look forward to welcoming Monica in December,” says Tournament Director, Karl Budge.

NZ Festival of Tennis
The festival is a celebration of tennis, and the great Kiwi Summer, anchored by two marquee events, the ASB Classic and the Heineken Open.

As well as catching all the action on the centre court, tennis fans can now enjoy an elevated hospitality experience, choosing from a host of pop-up eateries including on-site offerings from top Auckland restaurant The Grill by Sean Connolly and Al Brown’s Best Ugly Bagels. Internationally renowned Kiwi chef Peter Gordon will also be designing menus for the corporate suites and player lounge.

The festival also sees the introduction of a two-week ‘Heineken Baseline’ live site, accessed using the all-new Ground Pass for just $15. The ground pass enables fans to watch every match live on a giant screen, live tennis on courts two and four, and enjoy daily music performances, entertainment offerings, premium dining and more – much like that of the outdoor hospitality area at the Australian Open.
