Cambridge High School Careers Department has joined the on-line revolution and is using social media to help connect its students, family and whanau with the schools increasing network capabilities.
Cambridge High School is a co-educational state secondary school.  Students from the town of Cambridge and surrounding rural areas attend the school.
The Careers Department arches, over the Gateway Programme, Vocational Pathways and Career Focused Learning.
Keith Robinson the Careers Advisor and Head of Faculty at Cambridge High School leads the team of diverse backgrounds. He provides mentoring and advice to students regarding subject choices, career pathways, tertiary options and applications. Students are encoruaged to explore all options in in order to decide their future careers.
The Gateway Programme enables schools to help students consider pathways from school to further education, training or employment, by undertaking structured workplace learning while continuing to study at school.
Gateway is not just a traditional transition programme; it engages students and pathways them to relevant Career options while enhancing and extending the existing school curriculum.
Gateway provides learning opportunities that are innovative and relevant promoting traditional values of self-discipline, work ethic, commitment and time management, while providing valuable links between school and the community,” Says Liz Wilson – the Co-ordinator of The Gateway Programme at Cambridge High School.
Vocational Pathways is providing new ways for students to identify and target the subjects they should take to achieve their desired Career.
Careers focused learning provides students with the opportunity to focus on a course of study that may or may not be offered at the school. Students also have the chance to study via distance learning through an outside provider.
Providing students with all these opportunities, in a supportive positive environment ensures they can make informed decisions for their future.
