ANYONE COMPETING in the myriad sporting events in Rotorua next month should consider staying at the Union Victoria Motel if they want to unwind afterwards.

Union Victoria Motel owners Bruce and Cheri Beesley say it’s the best place to do so as it has two mineral pools, an indoor spa pool, a heated outdoor swimming pool and a games room.

Rotorua will play host to a number of sporting events next month, including the Rotorua Off-Road Half Marathon (March 9), National Secondary Schools Waka Ama Championships (March 25-28) and the iconic NZO Moonride (March 28-29).

The weekend of March 15-16 is the busiest, with the Tarawera Ultramarathon, Rotorua Walking Festival, Relay for Life and Lake Okataina Open Water Swim set to take place.

Among the facilities at Union Victoria Motel which Bruce and Cheri feel can help people taking part in those events relax afterwards are two alkaline mineral pools. Union Victoria Motel is one of only a few Rotorua motels who have them.

Studies have shown that bathing in alkaline mineral water helps soothe body aches and joint pain.

“[The mineral pools] are good for people to come back and have a bit of a soak in, unwind and loosen up the muscles a little bit after the ride, run or whatever it is they’re out there doing,” says Bruce.

Other facilities at Union Victoria Motel which Bruce and Cheri Beesley feel can help people unwind following their event include the heated outdoor swimming pool, spa pool and games room, which has a pool table and a dart board.

“As you can see, we’ve got facilities where people can come back and unwind afterwards,” says Bruce.

Union Victoria Motel has space to cater for both sports teams and individuals.

It is also handy to the venues where each of those events next month will be held.

Rooms are still available at Union Victoria Motel during that period.

“It’s still a little early but people should be starting to book now if they want to stay with us,” says Bruce.
