Auckland hospitality industry selects its superstars
The search for stars from all aspects of Auckland’s hospitality scene has begun with nominations now open for the 2014 Lewisham Awards.
Whether it be a new chef or barista, a supplier or a wine list, the Lewisham Awards recognise every aspect that contributes to the excellence of Auckland’s vibrant food scene.
Chris Upton, Chairman of the Lewisham Foundation, says the accolade is highly valued, largely because the award recipients are chosen by votes from people within the industry.
“No matter what industry you’re from, there is no greater acknowledgment than that from your peers. Being recognised for your excellence by the experts who are essentially your competitors in day to day business is an incredible honour,” says Upton.

Nominations close on Monday 31 March and finalists voting is open from Wednesday 23 April,
Finalist voting closes on Sunday 18 May with the awards night at Shed 10 on Sunday 1 June.
Event manager Emily Harrison says it’s the first year the awards have been held at Shed 10. “With a fantastic new venue by the water and an exciting new band also confirmed for entertainment the awards evening is set to reach a whole new level,” she says.
Tickets go on sale on Tuesday 1 April for the awards evening and the after party.

About The Lewisham Awards
The Lewisham Awards is an established event in the Auckland hospitality industry, where the best in the business are nominated and honoured by their peers. At the time of establishment in 2002, the main objective of the awards was to encourage excellence in the city’s hospitality community, with a view of raising the standards in all facets of the industry.
Organised by a dedicated committee of industry professionals, the Lewisham Foundation Awards are named in honour of colourful Auckland hospitality entrepreneur Richard Lewisham who helped establish the modern day eating and drinking scene in the 'City of Sails'.
Lewisham Awards activities include a call for nominations in 17 categories which are then shortlisted to four finalists per category. Final voting concludes two weeks prior to a formal Awards Ceremony which precede an after party generally touted as THE Party on Auckland’s hospitality calendar.
