Synthetic drugs to be banned in NZ
BREAKING NEWS: The Government has announced today the remaining 41 legal high substances not banned by the Psychoactive Substances act will be taken off the shelves. The highs will be banned for two weeks until proven to be low-risk, Associate Health Minister Peter Dunne has revealed.
The legislation will be passed under urgency when Parliament convenes on May 6.
The Government says the decision was made earlier this week, but an announcement was held off to prevent stockpiling.
The move comes as Labour plans to announce its own policy on psychoactive substances tomorrow, and follows increasing protest from local communities to legal highs. Labour is going to be banning all synthetic drugs as part of the policy.
