Argent Motor Lodge Gifts Christmas Cheer at Waikato Hospital
ON CHRISTMAS day, Clare and Richard Gallagher and their two children, Harry (9) and Franci (7), spread a little cheer by delivering 28 Christmas gift bags filled with Christmas fare to some patients, their families and staff at Waikato Hospital.
Co-owners of Hamilton’s award-winning Argent Motor Lodge, Clare and Richard Gallagher, wanted to give something back to the community that supports them.
“This was our second year. The first time we did it, we intended to help our children understand a little more about the way the world works. That there is something we can do for others, at Christmas, less fortunate than ourselves,” says Clare.
They gifted bags of Christmas goodies filled with food and drink such as puddings, chocolates and juice to patients, families and staff in the Intensive Care and High Dependency Units at Waikato Hospital. The Emergency Team at Waikato Hospital also received gift bags.
“We felt privileged that our children were escorted by the nursing team through the Intensive Care Unit.”
“We will definitely continue delivering Christmas gift bags next year and into the future,” she says.
Argent Motor Lodge in Hamilton is the closest motel accommodation to Waikato and Braemar Hospitals. So the Gallaghers wanted to contribute something to show the hospital community that they care.

“Helping our communities isn’t just about giving loads of money – small donations can make a difference, as can helping community fundraising events,” says Clare.
