Meet Hamilton-based Argent Motor Lodge's new owner: Graeme Hunt.
The new owner of Argent Motor Lodge, Graeme Hunt, brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in the accommodation sector to the multiple award-winning Hamilton-based motor lodge.
What initially attracted Graeme Hunt to the Argent Motor Lodge was its: “The high quality of construction, fixtures and fittings, as well as the superb location near the Waikato and Braemar Hospitals, as well as being close to the Hamilton city centre.”
“It just stood out. Being a new motor lodge at just three years old, everything is still new but there is also room to grow. It is definitely on the up and up,” adds Graeme.
Graeme will be moving up from Wellington to Hamilton to take over ownership and running of Argent Motor Lodge.
Graeme started out in the hospitality industry after completing a Commerce Degree from Victoria University, when he join Lion Brewery in a management and marketing role. “When I was 28 I leased the Clyde Key Tavern in Wellington with my brother,” says Graeme. Graeme and his brother later sold the Clyde Quay Tavern and then built the Village Inn in Raumati and The Jolly Miller Inn in North Beach.
More recently, Graeme Hunt previously owned the very successful Cambridge Hotel in Wellington, which he purchased and renovated it to the high quality establishment which it is well known as today. “It was a large complex and we renovated all of the 80 rooms,” adds Graeme. The Cambridge Hotel became one of the leading hotels in Wellington while Graeme was at the helm. Graeme sold the Cambridge Hotel approximately five years ago.
Graeme’s passion for the accommodation and hospitality industry has not dulled over the years. “I love dealing with people, especially in an industry I always believe in,” adds Graeme.
Graeme’s other passion lays with the Horse Racing Industry. He has been a successful hobby owner-breeder having bred the 2007 Melbourne Cup winner Efficient, as well as stakes progeny such as Creil, Barinka, Guillotine among others.
Though the Argent Motor Lodge will be with a new owner, guests can be rest assured that they will be in very capable hands.
