THE MOTEL Association of New Zealand (MANZ) has recently announced the proposal of an exciting new partnership with Hospitality New Zealand. The possible partnership is all part of the planned rebranding for MANZ.

Peter Nash, president of the Motels Association speaking on behalf of the Board of the Motel Association of New Zealand , spoke about the meeting of the two associations saying, “The meeting was very positive with a group of highly motivated people who had similar aspirations.”

One of the benefits of the potential merger between the two hospitality companies is the planned rebranding of the Motel Association of New Zealand.

Lloyd Stone, owner of Hamilton accommodation provider Arena Court Motor Lodge as well as being Vice President of the Waikato Motel Association (WMA),  had this to say about the rebranding:  There are many potentially good aspects of this partnership for accommodation providers, the merger could create one accommodation sector that includes all forms of accommodation and puts them all under one umbrella.”

One of the ideas behind the merger is to help develop a new accommodation division in New Zealand that is similar to that which is modeled by the Australian Hotels Association.

There is a range of advantages from the Motel Association of New Zealand’s point of view not just surrounding the rebranding but also gaining greater membership and having a greater voice for the accommodation sector of New Zealand.

“Michael Baines the CEO of MANZ who has a link with decision makers in Wellington for accommodation in New Zealand, and already maintains a strong voice for Motel associations,” says Lloyd Stone. “If the merger goes ahead it could lead to a larger grouping together of accommodation providers and with all accommodation providers under the one umbrella this could make way for a better standards and ethics for all to work towards,” Lloyd continues.

The team at Arena Court Motor Lodge already offers affordable quality accommodation and achieved ‘EXCELLENCE’ from Trip Advisor feedback, has quality standard of care and code of ethics to its guests but hope that a possible merger could help accommodation organizations work together to make the accommodation industry even better.

At Arena Court Motor Lodge all rooms are double-glazed and well appointed and also include air conditioning, cooking facilities, fridge and tea and coffee making facilities, with scrumptious breakfasts available, and a chargeback facility with many local restaurants.
