Paihia Beach Resort and Spa Hotel based in the Bay of Islands are excited to announce sponsorship of the National Torpedo Tournament.
Paihia Beach Resort and Spa Hotel have recently announced their sponsorship of the National Torpedo Tournament. The fishing tournament to be held at Ninety Mile beach on the 14th, 15th and 16th of July 2016 is a popular event that brings many keen fishers to the Bay of Islands area.
The competition will see attendees flock to Northland beaches to be eligible to compete. The areas include Ninety Mile Beach, Tokerua Beach, East Beach and Puheke.
Competitors entered in the National Torpedo Tournament will take part in land-based fishing using a Kontiki fishing systems which has the ability to take their lines hundreds of meters out into the ocean.
This year’s event saw 48 teams make their way from around the county to take part. Teams from Hastings, Napier, Wanganui, Kerikeri, Auckland, Mangawai, Whangarei, Fielding and even some Australians competed.
The money raised through sponsorship of the 2015 National Torpedo Tournament that was held in July was donated to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of New Zealand. More than $2000 was raised at this year’s event which represented a huge achievement for all those involved.
