Argent's Hidden Secret – Their Housekeeping Staff

Anyone who has stayed in Argent Motor Lodge’s spotless, white rooms would agree Argent is perfectly suited to its name.
Graeme Hunt, owner of Argent Motor Lodge, says its reputation as Hamilton’s number one motel is largely thanks to a team of dedicated cleaners, working tirelessly behind the scenes.
“They’re extremely loyal,” says Graeme. “They’re lovely girls. Each and every one of them has the approach that when they come here to work they are to treat each of our rooms like their own home. I’m very lucky I’ve got those girls here and they really do take an interest in the place.”
Graeme says with new motels starting up in New Zealand all the time, it’s important to keep up the standards Argent has set with cleanliness as well as friendliness.
“There are a lot of both old and new motel properties starting up in NZ and it still comes down to the housekeeping at the end.
“I would like to think it is the attention to detail of our housekeeping staff that is the distinguishing factor and that seems to be born out from the feedback we continue to receive.”
“That’s probably the difference between us and a lot of the other motels, I would imagine. We don’t get complaints and generally, one after another, people leave and say ‘I loved it. It was just spotless, thank you.’
“The big thing is that we don’t have to follow up on the rooms because the girls are so passionate about what they’re doing. They’re looking over each other.”
Argent Motor Lodge is the current holder of TripAdvisor’s number one spot in motel ratings in Hamilton.
“All in all it’s flattering,” says Graeme, “but at the end of the day, the girls have got the biggest part to play. I mean, our approach is always to be friendly and nice and helpful, but really what it comes down to is that the guest is spending ninety nine percent of the time in the room se we need it to be perfectly clean.”
“Still, the reviews we get on TripAdvisor and Trivago are really encouraging to the girls. It gives them a giddy-up.
“You can certainly say that they enjoy their work. You can hear them singing away at times up there. They’re just really nice”.
