Summer is in full swing in Hamilton.  If you’ve had a blast over the summer months and now you’re back at work, don’t think it’s is over.  Whether you’re a sports fan, a music buff or you like a wee flutter on the horses, there are upcoming events in Hamilton which are sure to take your fancy.

Lloyd, owners of Arena Court Motor Lodge, says having the motel close to most of the venues in Hamilton keeps him on his toes and he’s still busy at this busy time of year, with national and international visitors flocking to Hamilton to attend the events.

Lloyd says each year more people realise how close his Motel is to the centre of Hamilton city and venues.  Then the bookings start to fill up.

“There are many who prebook,” says Lloyd, “but some are just going past and they see us”.

Lloyd, who is also Vice President of the Waikato Motel Association, says Hamilton is one of New Zealand’s most exciting venues for sports and entertainment.  “Hamilton has plenty of events from sport and culture to racing and arts,” he says.

Coming up this weekend is ‘Return of the Clash of the Titans’, at the Claudelands Arena, on Saturday 20 February, featuring three of Australasia’s biggest bands - Dragon, Mi-Sex and The Angels - playing many of their classic songs such as ‘Computer Games’, ‘April Sun in Cuba’ and ‘No Secrets’.  The show starts at 7:30pm.

Also coming soon to the Claudelands Arena is classical act Sol3 Mio, playing on Saturday, 12 March, with the show starting at 8.00pm.

Lloyd says his advice to people wanting to make sure they get to these events is to book in early and consider walking rather than taking a car and parking at the Arena.

“Arena Court is less than 20 minutes” walk from Claudelands Arena so it makes sense to leave the car at the motel where he can keep an eye on it”, says Lloyd.

“Many of our gests do it that way,” says Lloyd.  “And it’s a nice walk.”
