“Everyone in the world deserves a decent place to live and to raise a family,” says Jono Ng.

Jono, sales agent at Lugton’s Real Estate in Hamilton, has just announced he will be donating 5% of his portion of the commission for every successful sale he makes to one of two local charities.

“This is my gift to the local community for their support of using my services,” says Jono.

The two charities Jono has chosen are Habitat for Humanity and Hospice Waikato.

Habitat for Humanity is an international organisation which supports struggling families by building new homes for those who need them.

Volunteers donate labour and discounted building materials to build or renovate the houses.  The recipients of the house invest 500 hours of their own time to help build the house or a house for another family.  Once finished, the family moves into the home and makes regular, affordable repayments to Habitat for Humanity on a no-profit basis.

“The reason we chose Habitat for Humanity is because we share the same values,” says Jono. “Our mission is helping Hamiltonians into their dream homes.  This involves making things easy so they can buy and sell in confidence.

“It’s always a privilege to help my clients to sell or buy their homes and this is why the idea of helping less fortunate people into homes is a great cause. Everyone in the world deserves a decent place to live and to raise a family”.

Jono wanted to give his clients a choice of charities to donate to so he has chosen a second charity.

“By providing a couple of options to my clients, they can also be a part in the good cause,” says Jono.

Jono’s second charity is Hospice Waikato.  Jono says Hospice Waikato was chosen for its local connection.

“Hospice Waikato is where a lot of our local communities benefit from.  My wife also used to be a trained volunteer at Hospice Waikato so it was a no brainer.

“Knowing what we’re doing is going to benefit our community encourages my professional and personal growth,” says Jono, “and it helps build a positive workplace environment for me and my team.

“It also demonstrates to my clients that I’m truly committed and really believe in what I do.”
