“Some of you may remember our dear cat Pippa who greeted our guests on arrival. If you were a cat lover she would make a fuss of you or allow you to make a fuss of her,” says Pauline Trebilcock-Charteris who co-owns Chartre` Manor Bed & Breakfast in Thames with her husband, Dennis.
“She knew who she felt comfortable with, so after welcoming you, she would lead you to the door. If you were not into cats she would just go to one side and not bother. She had learnt her boundaries and where she was allowed. The guest bedrooms were out of bounds and the guest lounge was only by invitation,” comments Pauline.
“Many of our guests would love to have taken her home. Sadly after ten years of bringing love, happiness and contentment Pippa went to sleep. We thought we would never want to replace her,”
But two years later, in July 2016, by chance Pauline and Dennis met a gorgeous little Papillon/Shitzu/Chihuahua X with attitude. A small break away for two weeks they realized they were not replacing Pippa but this would be an addition to the Chartre` Manor family.
“Born on 12 May 2016 we welcomed Coco Chanel Chartre` into our home. After two days Coco was introduced to the chickens and Angelina the Ballerina,” adds Pauline. She has been very quick to fit in and learn the Chartrè way. She has been socializing with family, friends and animals she comes across. Yoda the Chihuahua was an instant hit.
“Coco has a very loving nature. If you are travelling and fretting for your pet, we are sure she will make you feel at home,” says Pauline.
