Have you ever wondered what it’s really like inside an apiary?  How is honey extracted?  How does it get into the jar?  What do the bees do all day?

Leading Manuka honey producers SummerGlow Apiaries are about to answer those questions and more, as they introduce their new on-site vlog (video blog), as a new way for their valued customers to see what goes on behind the scenes.

SummerGlow Apiaries of Te Kowhai, Hamilton, are New Zealand’s leaders in Manuka honey production and frontrunners in identifying their honey as genuine Manuka using the latest scientific tests and technology endorsed by the UMF (Unique Manuka Factor) Association.

They are also frontrunners in using internet technology within the honey industry, having established the world's first website about Manuka honey in 1995.

“At that time our website was one of just two honey websites worldwide and the only website about Manuka honey,” says James Jeffery of SummerGlow Apiaries.

“Now that we’ve started vlogging,” says Mr Jeffery, “we have another new way for our customers to see behind the scenes at SummerGlow.  It will be a fun way to get more intimate with our customers.”

One of the multi-talented beekeepers employed at SummerGlow, Ed Wright, has been charged with making the vlogs and the whole SummerGlow team is excited and keen to get involved.

“We’ve given Ed a GoPro Camera,” says James Jeffery, “which he will take around with him to film the everyday things that go on at SummerGlow.”

SummerGlow’s first vlog, available now https://www.facebook.com/SummerGlowApiaries/videos is on the subject of building the frames that make up the inside if the hives.  The vlogs will be available on SummerGlow’s website www.manukahoney.co.nz and on their Facebook page www.facebook.com/SummerGlowApiaries.

“We will try and get a fresh vlog ready at the beginning of each step of our new beekeeping season it should prove entertaining “ adds James.

SummerGlow Apiaries is located on Richards Road, Te Kowhai, just out of Hamilton, in the heart of the Waikato.
