Hamilton Accommodation Provider Ventura Inn & Suites Now Has Bikes

“The Waikato is home to the Velodrome and home to world class cyclists, with beautiful country roads, perfect for cycling,” says Kenneth Mitchell, owner of Ventura Inn & Suites in Hamilton.
“But there’s another cycle world!” he says.
Ventura Inn & Suites wants to help guests discover the Waikato River Trails. Kenneth Mitchell says the best option for guests staying at Ventura Inn & Suites is to cycle down-river to the Hamilton Gardens, lock up the bikes and have a wander around the gardens.
If guests want to discover more, there’s another 20km of cycleway from the Gardens to Horotiu, north of the city - about one and a half hours each way. This section has stunning views of the Waikato River and is a taster for the other sections of the trails.
The full length of the Waikato River Trails is 103km from Atiamuri in the south to Lake Karapiro in the north, with sections through Whakamaru, Maraetai, Waipapa and Arapuni.
The Waikato River Trails are managed by the Waikato River Trails Charitable Trust, which was formed in 2006 with the aim of bringing more visitors to the South Waikato. The Trails were officially opened in November 2011.
Ventura Inn & Suites is conveniently located on Clarence Street in Hamilton City, close to popular cafés, restaurants and shops. Staff are always on hand to point guests in the direction of the cycle trails and to offer helpful advice. A continental breakfast is available for a hearty start to the day.
“Bike hire from Ventura is $25 for up to four hours,” says Kenneth, “making for a very affordable and fun excursion.
“We hope guests will give it a try and start thinking like us – that cars are really just for those who don’t have bikes!”
