Waikato Museum (Te Whare Taonga o Waikato) is set on the banks of the Waikato River, in the heart of Hamilton's cultural precinct. It has 13 indoor galleries, including a hands-on science gallery for children.

“The Waikato Museum hosts more than 100 events a year and opens a new exhibition every two weeks, so there is always something new and interesting to see,” says Graeme Hunt, owner of Argent Motor Lodge.

Take a trip through the history of this great city and spend an afternoon touring through the Waikato Museum, its free entry proves that it is something that shouldn't be missed. “Located in the town centre, spend the afternoon at the museum before treating yourself to dinner at Hamilton's numerous restaurants,” advises Graeme.

For history lovers, Waikato Museum feature exhibitions that tell the stories of the Waikato region sit alongside both national and international touring displays. “For first time visitors to the region, Waikato Museum is a great place to start your journey,” adds Graeme.
