“There just seems to be this respect for history in Hamilton East and yet at the same time a real emphasis on sustainability,” says Susan. “It’s a place rich with character that has such a vibrant culture.”
John Robert Fow, Susan’s great grandfather, was a figurehead in both business and local government around Hamilton in the early 1900s. Fow served as Hamilton Mayor in various stints between 1916 and 1920 and literally reshaped the city through his work at the removal of Garden Place Hill, the now home of the Wintec campus.
This history, alongside a life spent near the river, has trickled down into Susan’s work as a Bayleys Real Estate Agent, influenced by the people and places she has grown up with in Hamilton’s oldest suburb.
“I’ve always kept my roots and stayed in Hamilton East because I love it, it has such an ease of living about it.
