Things are heating up for New Zealand’s home building experts Green Homes New Zealand.

New Zealand’s first international standards (ISO) approved Green Building Company, Green Homes New Zealand, are building a $12 million development at one of New Zealand’s most desirable locations, Pauanui.

Sitting on the development site is currently an old house. The team at Green Homes New Zealand reached out to the Coromandel Fire Brigades to see if they can give the house a fantastic send off.

During the weekend of 5th and 6th May, in conjunction with several of the great teams at the Coromandel Fire Brigades, the house will be used for valuable training for the area’s fire fighters with it all culminating in the house being burnt to the ground!

“We are pleased to be able to support the community in the training of the local, mostly volunteer, firefighters who provide a very valuable service,” says Green Homes New Zealand general manager Andrew Olsen.

Fire and emergency volunteers from Pauanui, Tairua and Whangamata fire brigades will be sending Firefighters qualified in breathing apparatus to be trained by six instructors from the National training centre. The Onemana rural fire force will also be there on the day providing exposure protection from an external position.

The training will show the progression of the four stages of a developing fire incipient, growth, fully developed and decay. “The opportunity for a firefighter to witness the growth of fire in a controlled environment is invaluable,” adds Andrew.

The fire training will move to the upper level of the house where fire fighters will demonstrate the firefighter’s skill of suppression and attack. A small fire is lit in the corner of a room and then the fire fighters move in in pairs to cool the fire, to remove the heat and control the fire to eventually putting it out

This event will be open to the public who wish to see the brave firefighters in action. “If you would like to come to watch we will be establishing Safe Zones from which you can safely watch this showcase,” adds Andrew.

This exciting event signifies the start of the Pauanui Green project as the earthworks machines will move on to the development site the following week. “After many years of hard work, the whole Green Homes New Zealand team is very eager to finally see the site being transformed into our new and exciting vision of an energy-efficient  future proofed lifestyle,” comments Andrew.

The Pauanui Green development will be the first of its type in New Zealand and will offer buyers the prospect to own an architecturally designed, modern, energy-efficient, future-proofed home in the tranquil coastal town of Pauanui, located on the idyllic Coromandel Peninsula.
