Owner of Hamilton's Best Rated Motel Argent Motor Lodge Links Increased Tourist Numbers to Popular Attraction Hamilton Gardens

“Hamilton needs packaged deals that guide tourists around the local attractions such as Hamilton Gardens to make the most of what Hamilton has to offer,” says leading Hamilton motel owner Graeme Hunt.
“The lovely people at the Hamilton Gardens Trust are extremely important to the success of the Hamilton Gardens and for nurturing the growth of such a wonderful public facility,” says Hunt.
Sir Michael Hill, Patron Hamilton Gardens Development Trust has been quoted as saying about the Hamilton Gardens: “The potential for this place is so exciting, I think this is the best kept secret in New Zealand”.
Hunt agrees with this statement but genuinely wishes it wasn’t the best kept secret. He would like to see all his motel guests experience the beauty and splendour that can be found at the Hamilton Gardens.
“I know that Hamilton has more to offer than what most think. A lot of guests stay for a day or two on their way to other destinations and realise they haven’t scratched the surface of things to see or do in Hamilton,” says Hunt.
Argent Motel Lodge is a few minutes’ drive north of the internationally renowned Hamilton Gardens and is in the perfect location for visitors to base themselves during their stay in Hamilton.

Hunt purchased the Argent Motor Lodge mostly because of its prime location on the south side of Hamilton and its proximity to Hamilton Airport and Hamilton Gardens.
Argent Motor Lodge is located on the same street as both Waikato and Braemar Hospitals where many customers are in town to visit. To help ease their stay Hunt offers a complimentary valet service where he personally drives them to and from the hospital at their request.
Hunt says he has had numerous guests wishing they had stayed longer. “Many customers mention to me they intend on coming back as they arrive at the motel thinking they will stay for two days and see enough of the city which they soon realise is impossible,” says Hunt.
Hunt commented that many of his guests visited the Hamilton Gardens and returned to Argent Motor Lodge stating not only that the Hamilton Gardens was the favourite part of their visit but some have said that it is the best gardens that they have seen in the world.
This sentiment is upheld by the fact that Hamilton Gardens won the Garden of the Year award at the International Garden Tourism Awards in Metz, France in 2014.
With over 54 hectares of land comprising 21 different gardens and hosting over 2,000 events annually the Hamilton Gardens brings in over 1 million visitors per year. With continuous additions and improvements these numbers are set to improve year on year.
