Giving back to the community is a big part of the way things are run at Hamilton’s leading boarding kennels and cattery, Longtail Pet Motel.

The team at Longtail Pet Motel are proud to be able to give back to their community through social giving by supporting a number of community and animal focused charities and organisations.

Waikato SPCA
“Any leftover bedding we have, we donate to be used by animals that have been left at the Waikato SPCA,” say Kevin Wilmshurst owner at Longtail Pet Motel. As animal lovers at heart, the team at Longtail Pet Motel are more than happy to support this charity that helps better the lives of animals across the country. Each year SPCA Centres help protect over 48,000 abandoned, abused and neglected animals.

Riding For The Disabled
Continuing on with the animal centric charities close to their heart, Longtail Pet Motel in Hamilton also support the Riding for The Disabled’s annual appeal. Riding for The Disabled is a voluntary, not-for-profit organisation which provides opportunities for anyone with a disability to enjoy safe and therapeutic horse riding and horse-related activities in the Waikato. “The skills gained from this charity make a positive difference in the lives of these riders,” adds Kevin.

Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter
The Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter provides a 24-hour emergency service, 365 days a year. Available through the emergency 111 call system, their rapid response rescue helicopters bring life-saving equipment, rescue personnel and trauma-trained medics directly to the patient. Longtail Pet Motel help their cause by donating to their annual appeal.

St John
St John New Zealand is a charitable organisation that provides ambulance services to approximately 400,000 people every year. Every year the demand for their services increases and as a charity the rely on the generosity of the communities they serve. “By donating to their annual appeal, we are happy to support their life saving work,” adds Kevin.

Catholic Caring Foundation
The Catholic Caring Foundation supports local families and communities who struggle with the effects of poverty.  “We were a sponsor of their Annual Gold Tournament, which raised more than $7000 dollars. We also helped out on the day with their BBQ,” comments Kevin.

Horotiu School Gala

The Horotiu School gala is a great opportunity for the community to come together and pick up some great items, with all money raised going to a great cause.  “We have participated in the Horotiu School Gala for the last 10 years. It has been a great success and a record sum of $27,000 was raised this year,” advises Kevin. Horotiu School is located north of Hamilton and caters for children in Years 1 to 8.
