More than 200 people will gather in Auckland on Saturday 1 September for the public day of the National Council of Women of New Zealand (NCWNZ) Conference.

On Saturday at 9.15am, keynote speaker Rt Hon Helen Clark will be followed by a panel discussion entitled Four Generations of Feminists – where panellists Sandra Coney, Prue Kapua, Vira Paky and Kiritapu Allan, MP will share their thoughts on the issues and leadership styles of their generation.

NCWNZ President Vanisa Dhiru says the theme this year is He Toa Takitini: Strength in Diversity. “I believe diversity is the key to our longevity as we continue to represent more than 350,000 women through our members and associated organisations. We are also well connected to the National Councils of Women all over the world” says Vanisa.

Auckland Branch President Carol Beaumont agrees, “125 years on from women winning the right to vote, this organisation is going from strength to strength. This weekend’s Conference will be a wonderful opportunity to celebrate this, as well as the Auckland Branch centenary.”

Other key parts of the programme include two blocks of workshops with an exciting range of topics and speakers including Aotearoa’s #MeToo Movement and Contemporary Masculinity.
