New web promotion to market the Far North
A new website promotion designed to encourage international and New Zealand investment in the Far North will be launched by the Far North District Council on 27 December 2007.
The website, an initiative arising from the Far North Local Economic Development Strategy, will focus on the advantages of living and working in a district which offers real commercial and lifestyle choices.
“The intention is to make information about the district more readily available to encourage both domestic and international settlement in the Far North to the economic advantage of our district,” District Facilities Community Development Manager James Bews-Hair says.
The stylish website with easy-to-follow information links will go “live” on 27 December but the site can already be accessed at www.farnorthnz.com. The website has been tested at selected overseas locations with positive results.
The council believes it will help lift the Far North to the forefront of what is an already a fiercely competitive market. The need to secure a slice of the economic benefits of both investment and settlement is shared by the majority of districts across the country, and it is anticipated the new web promotion could give the Far North a new edge.
The site will be continually enhanced and improved as feedback is received. Consistent with the district's economic development strategy, the site was designed and built by a local company – Okaihau-based Deep Web Design.
“We will also use the site as a mechanism to encourage people to support local services and business to enhance the economic growth of the district, and intend to use it as a launching platform for future promotional activities and initiatives,” he says.
“This is the first step a more pro-active approach to selling the Far North as the place to live and work,” he says.
