Sir Edmund Hillary – Books of Remembrance
Far North District Council has placed Books of Remembrance at its Kaitaia and Kaikohe service centres to enable people to express their own personal tribute to Sir Edmund Hillary. Note: the book is in place at Kaikohe and will be at the Kaitaia Service Centre this Thursday (tomorrow)
The books will be sent on to Sir Edmund’s family once people have had an opportunity to express their feelings about the man many people consider to be the greatest Kiwi.
“Sir Ed is a hero who has provided inspiration to three generations of our fellow countrymen and to the peoples of the world,” Mayor Brown said. “I encourage people to register their respects and to consider making a donation to his beloved Himalayan Trust.”
