Queenstown Lakes District Council today announced the results of the 2006/07 performance review of its chief executive officer Mr Duncan Field.

The review was carried out by a council subcommittee chaired by Mayor Clive Geddes. The subcommittee was supported by Polson Higgs, specialists in local government employment matters.

“There has been a delay in confirming the outcome of Mr Field’s review caused by the three-yearly election cycle. As a consequence of this, council has not been able to disclose the total employment cost of the CEO in the Annual report,” Queenstown Lakes District Council Mayor Clive Geddes said.

“Council is releasing this information now so that the outcome of the review is available to the public as soon as possible after the confirmation of the review,” he said. “The review has shown that the chief executive has delivered on the key performance indicators, set by the council and Mr Field in 2006.”

The details of the review would remain confidential as is the standard practice throughout New Zealand for a position of this type.

Council had adjusted the total employment cost of the chief executive as follows:

Base salary: $258,177

Motor vehicle: $7,608

Withheld portion (at risk): $12,000

Total employment cost: $277,785

The council had formed a new review committee for the 2007/08 year, which will undertake an interim and annual review as part of the contractual agreement between the council and the chief executive.
